We have compiled a list of everything that has to be done for Thanksgiving, so there is no need for you to create one yourself.
Early Preps For Thanksgiving:
1. Complete the list of invited guests. Consider how many guests you can seat at the table for a formal dinner, or if you'd prefer to keep things more relaxed and invite more people, consider serving the meal in a buffet format instead.
2. Make a rental order. If you don't already have enough, you might want to look into hiring some tables, seats, glasses, plates, and cutlery.
3. Plan your menu. Today you should decide what your favourite turkey recipe is, and then you should plan extra dishes all around bird. If you enjoy side dishes more than the main course, begin with the recipes you enjoy the most and expand from there.
4. Start by making a grocery list. Determine the quantity of each dish that will be required. Make a list of the ingredients you'll need, then examine the contents of your pantry to see whether you already have anything similar. Complete the list so that you can place online orders for ingredients that are difficult to find.
5. Order a turkey. Assume one pound for each youngster and two pounds for each adult (to guarantee leftovers). Place your order for a fresh turkey, or go to the store to pick up a frozen one and place it in the refrigerator.
6. Go to the store and buy some non-perishable goods. Before the crowds arrive, you have the option of purchasing rice, fresh or frozen cranberries, flour, salt, brown sugar, cornstarch, canned butternut squash, packaged filling and cornbread mixes, and either fresh or frozen cranberries.
7. Clear out some space in your freezer. It will save you time on Thanksgiving if you do as much of the cooking and freezing as you can right now. You'll need to clean out your freezer so there's room for everything you plan to store in there.
8. Freeze homemade stock. The use of homemade stock is essential to making a flavorful gravy. You can make turkey stock by purchasing turkey bone fragments from your butcher, roasting them, and then simmering them with aromatics prior to actually putting the stock in the freezer.
9. Make a plan for when you will cook. On Thanksgiving, the best way to keep stress levels in check and enjoy the holiday is to be well-organized. You should go over your recipes and make a plan for the day of Thanksgiving in addition to a day-by-day timetable for the week lead - up to the holiday.
